History
- 1948Archaeology courses began at Sydney under Dale Trendall and Jim Stewart; Stewart joined the newly formed Department of Archaeology as senior lecturer.

- 1949–1951Veronica Seton-Williams and Joan du Plat Taylor excavated Myrtou-Pigadhes on behalf of the Ashmolean Museum and the University of Sydney.
- 1951Basil Hennessy, under Stewart's guidance, excavated the Middle to Late Cypriot cemetery at Stephania (Myrtou) as Sydney's part of the Myrtou work, after salvage work at Sphagion. Powell: Sydney University provided funding in return for a proportion of the finds.

- 1951At the end of 1951 Hennessy shipped fifteen cases of Stephania material to Australia and four to New Zealand (Powell).
- 1955In the 1955 division of the Kouklia (Liverpool Museum Expedition) finds, the Expedition's share went to Britain except Asproyi Tomb IV, which was allocated, with its records, to the Nicholson Museum in consideration of financial support from Sydney University. Catling reports that part of the excavation records and contents never reached full documentation.
- 1955Stewart's Melbourne Cyprus Expedition excavated Vasilia-Kafkallia and, in Nicosia, Ayia Paraskevi (Oct-Nov 1955). It was nominally sponsored by the University of Melbourne; because it was run on Stewart's own funds it could not be administered through Sydney. Nicholson Museum received Vasilia Tomb 1 material and Ayia Paraskevi tomb groups; Melbourne got material from Ayia Paraskevi Tomb 13; the Cyprus Museum kept the best Vasilia tomb and largest Ayia Paraskevi tomb.

- 1960Stewart appointed the first Edwin Cuthbert Hall Professor of Middle Eastern Archaeology.
- 1961Stewart's final Cyprus season, at Karmi-Lapatsa (17 tombs) and Karmi-Palealona (18 tombs), under the auspices of Melbourne University; Sydney paid salaries of university staff for six months and the team included Sydney students and Nicholson staff. Over seventy packing cases of finds went to Australia after the division of finds with the Department of Antiquities.

- 1962Memorial exhibition for Stewart in Sydney, for which Eve Stewart sent his plans and field notes.
- 1965–1966Dispute over the Karmi, Vasilia and Ayia Paraskevi material and records after Stewart's death: Eve Stewart objected to the department's custody and the loss of field plans and notebooks and threatened to sue; in August 1965 acting head Richard Green said the department would not be available for her or Derek Howlett to inspect the material; the Melbourne Cyprus Expedition committee (29 March 1966) agreed to sponsor Howlett to work with her until mid-1966 and to contribute 2000 pounds to a last excavation led by Eve Stewart.

- 1970–1990Basil Hennessy returned as Visiting Professor (1970-72) and was Edwin Cuthbert Hall Professor 1973-90; the chair had stood unfilled after Stewart's death. He was expected to complete Stewart's Cyprus excavations; Stephania had formed his first book (1964).
- 1995The University of Sydney's Paphos Theatre Archaeological Project began under J. Richard Green at the theatre of Nea Paphos (Fabrika), under licence from the Department of Antiquities; Craig Barker, Smadar Gabrieli and Green directed later seasons (2010 was the thirteenth, 2012 the fifteenth).
