Biography

Claude Schaeffer's 1933 excavation of Vounous tombs 49-79 for the Louvre was published in full in 2003, by Anne-Elizabeth Dunn-Vaturi. Claude F.-A. Schaeffer had cleared the tombs with Porphyrios Dikaios and published only a summary; Robert Merrillees described the limits of a catalogue project in 1988, among them missing plans, dispersed finds and errors in numbering1. About ten years later Annie Caubet proposed that Dunn-Vaturi prepare it1. In 2001 she published an outline in the Cahiers du Centre d'Études Chypriotes, dating the tombs from Early Cypriot I to Middle Cypriot II, most of them Early Cypriot III or Middle Cypriot I, with two Iron Age vases from the dig in the Louvre1. The catalogue followed as Vounous: C.F.A. Schaeffer's Excavations in 1933, Tombs 49-79 (SIMA 130, 2003)2.

In 2007, in the volume honouring Caubet, she reported on the audit of Cypriot antiquities in French collections, after Antoinette Decaudin's catalogue of them3. The audit found Cypriot terracottas at Dinan, six Black-on-Red jugs at Douai, and a group of Enkomi vases from Schaeffer's 1949 excavation recorded at Beirut as a gift from Schaeffer in 1958. The Cypriot series at Montigny-Lencoup proved to be terracottas from Taranto3. Her dates of birth and death are not recorded.
