Life and work
- 1961Holidaying in England, travelled on to Cyprus on her way home to Australia; visited the Cyprus Museum in Nicosia to see the Vounous pots she had studied in the Nicholson Museum's handbook, and learned from an attendant that her lecturer Jim Stewart was in the store-rooms.

- 1961Joined the small Australian group excavating at Karmi, living in a house with Derek Howlett and Robert Merrillees.

- 1961A rough rock-cut figure found at the Karmi tomb entrance was nicknamed 'the Mary Ann' in her honour (Powell adds that archaeologists now think it represents a man). The Cyprus Museum's conservator, sent to cast it in gypsum, broke off its pelvis when the plaster set too hard.
