Anna P. Georgiadou
fl. 2010–2025
Pottery specialist who wrote her doctorate on the regional workshops of Cypro-Geometric ceramics and has published on Salamis, Lapithos, Kition-Bamboula and Idalion.
Biography
Anna Georgiadou's doctoral thesis, completed in 2013 at the universities of Aix-Marseille and Athens, studied the regional workshops of Cypro-Geometric pottery of the tenth to eighth centuries BC11. Her articles follow the same material across the island. In 2012 she wrote on the early Cypro-Geometric pottery from Lapithos Tomb 5021, and in 2016 she wrote on the diffusion of Cypro-Geometric ceramics to the Levant and the Aegean2. Her study of the Salamis workshops, published in 2017, notes that the Early Iron Age evidence there is largely of a funerary nature3. With M. Dikomitou-Eliadou she wrote a 2022 study of Salamis pictorial pottery4.
She has also worked with excavated assemblages from other sites. With Sabine Fourrier and a team of specialists she published a jar burial of infants from Kition-Bamboula6. With Anna Satraki and Artemis Georgiou she published Locus 20 of the Idalion-Platia necropolis, part of a cemetery of 56 Iron Age tomb groups excavated in 2011 and 2012 under Satraki for the Department of Antiquities7. In 2021 she and Catherine Kearns reported on survey and pilot excavation at small Iron Age sites in the Vasilikos and Maroni valleys, her affiliation printed as the University of Cyprus5.
With Lindy Crewe and Despina Pilides she also wrote the chapter on the Cyprus Survey Branch for Empire & Excavation, based on archives in the Cyprus Museum and at CAARI8.
