Biography
Lucie Bonato published the French archive material on nineteenth-century Cyprus. From 1998 she published the series "Chypre dans les archives de Melchior de Vogüé" in the Cahiers du Centre d'Études Chypriotes. Part I covers the origins of the 1862 mission of Melchior de Vogüé, including the correspondence of Ernest Renan1. Part II prints 1862 letters in which Edmond Duthoit reports his dig at Dali2. Parts III and IV include nine letters of 1863-66 from Demetrios Pierides, who reported finds that Vogüé could acquire or have the Louvre buy5. Part V is Duthoit's 1865 travel notebook, found in the Vogüé archives6. In 1999 she co-edited with Rita C. Severis a volume on Duthoit3.
In 2000 she edited the 1844 Mémoire of Dagobert Fourcade, French consul at Larnaca from 1840 to 1845, a manuscript the Bibliothèque nationale bought in 1897 at the Mas Latrie sale4. Two further parts of the Fourcade-Goepp correspondence followed in 2003 and 20067,8. In 2010, with Maryse Emery, she published a biography of the consul Louis Dumesnil de Maricourt (1806-1865)9.
