Biography

Teresa Bürge is the ceramic expert of the excavations at Hala Sultan Tekke, and describes herself as a co-director of the project1. The New Swedish Cyprus Expedition there was directed by Peter M. Fischer from 20102. She co-authored the report on the 2012 season (23 April to 25 May) and added an appendix on clay figurine fragments from the 2010 to 2012 seasons2.

With Fischer she wrote preliminary reports in Opuscula, from volume 6 (the 2012 season) to volume 15 (the 2020-21 seasons), and the monograph Two Late Cypriot City Quarters at Hala Sultan Tekke: The Söderberg Expedition 2010-2017 (SIMA 147, 2018)1,3. Alone she published in 2017 a re-evaluation of the pottery deposits and offering pits at the site, under the title "Ritual Depositions Versus Garbage Pits"5. With Fischer she edited the 2017 proceedings of a workshop on the "Sea Peoples" held at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna on 3-4 November 20144. In 2023 she and Lærke Recht edited Dynamics and Developments of Social Structures and Networks in Prehistoric and Protohistoric Cyprus, published by Routledge. The contributor note gives her as a postdoctoral research fellow at Gothenburg and Bern and at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, working on Bronze and Iron Age pottery, trade and ritual deposition1.
