Apostolos Sarris

fl. 1990–2024

Scholar and archaeologist, active 1990–2024. Worked at Athienou-Malloura and Palaepaphos. Worked with Maria Iacovou and Michael K. Toumazou; wrote with A.-M. Sdralia and Giorgos Papantoniou.

Life and work

  1. 1990
Geophysical survey (soil resistance, proton magnetometry) at Malloura by a University of Patras and University of Nebraska-Lincoln team, in the area near the Cypro-Geometric III-Roman sanctuary; reported by Papamarinopoulos, Sarris and Toumazou (1991, 1992). Sarris's 1992 Nebraska-Lincoln PhD was on shallow-depth magnetic and resistance prospection.

  2. 1994–1995
A small IMS-FORTH team measured soil resistance and vertical magnetic gradient and used GPR around the Malloura sanctuary and the Magara Tepesi tombs.

  3. 2002–2003
Geophysical component of the Palaepaphos Digital Atlas (GIS plus multi-sensor survey) run in a Greece-Cyprus collaboration by Iacovou and colleagues; results published as Sarris et al. 2006.
