1852–1928 · France

French expedition member and epigrapher. Wrote with Edmond Pottier.

Life and work

  1. 1878
With Edmond Pottier spent several weeks on Cyprus on an official mission of the École française d'Athènes, documenting and occasionally acquiring antiquities, mostly inscriptions. No excavations were reported; Schmid links this to Wolseley's 1878 ban on excavation.
