Aristides Michaelides

fl. 1879–1888

Active 1879–1888.

Life and work

  1. 1888
Told Hogarth that a Drimu shepherd, whose sheep had scratched out the first inscription, forged further Cypriote inscriptions and sold them to Aristides himself, who presumably showed transcripts to the French students (Beaudouin and Pottier, BCH 1879). Hogarth concludes the Bulletin inscriptions are probably not genuine and that Michaelides knows more about them than anyone else.
