Life and work
- 1954Carried out 'supplementary investigations' at the Kourion theatre to establish the limits and character of the original Hellenistic building, as the Curium expedition under R. Edwards wound up most of its work; Stillwell was to publish the theatre, the adjoining bath building and annexes with mosaic floors, and the House of the Achilles mosaic. The expedition's finds were divided, with notable additions to the Cyprus Museum.

- February 1961Published 'Kourion: The Theater' in Proceedings of the American Philosophical Society 105.1 (Feb. 1961), pp. 37-78. In the same period the Department of Antiquities reconstructed thirteen rows of the theatre's seats for performances by the National Theatre of Greece.
- 1971Mitford relies on Stillwell's study for the theatre and reports his suggestion, from the modest scale of the inscribed entablature fragments, of a 'façade in keeping with the restricted size of the theater retained from the Hellenistic and early Roman phases'; on Nero's dedication he concludes that Nero in fact did little more than rebuild the stage.
