Life and work

  1. 14 February 1928
Wrote to Mitchell Kennerley, President of the Anderson Galleries, announcing that the Trustees had decided to sell by auction in March and April the Met's duplicate classical antiquities, including Cesnola-collection material, rather than keep them in storage. The letter is printed in the sale catalogue. The Trustees had considered distributing them to other American museums but rejected this because of questions of discrimination and delay in vacating needed space.
