History
- 1870–1874Cesnola excavated about 700 pieces at the sanctuary of Apollo at Golgoi; Harvard's later-acquired votary head 2017.167 is one of them (Harvard label), later sold by Cesnola to the Met.
- 1895Charles Eliot Norton and Richard Norton gave Cypriot pottery (seven records, 1895.197 etc.) to the Fogg.
- 1912–1920Elizabeth Gaskell Norton and Margaret Norton gave 15 Cypriot records (1912.11 etc.); the 1920.44 series carries related Norton gift glass.
- 1928The Met's sale of Cesnola duplicates at Anderson Galleries, New York; votary head 2017.167 passed through it to J. (or G.) Bernard.
- 1949Walter Baker gave a limestone Bearded Head of a Votary (1949.81).
- 1952Mrs Edward Jackson Holmes gave a Middle Bronze Age spouted jug (1952.12).
- 1953Bought from Petros Kolokasides, Nicosia, an LBA anthropomorphic female figurine (1953.118).
- 1958Oliver Purrington gave two terracotta female heads (1958.113-114).
- 1966Stuart Cary Welch Jr. gave about 22 Cypriot vessels (1966.113 ff.), mostly Early Bronze Age Red Polished.
- 1971The Harvard Archaeological Expedition to Cyprus under Emily Vermeule began excavation at the Late Bronze Age site of Toumba tou Skourou near Morphou; later worked with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
- 1971–1972Fogg conservator Arthur Beale served at the American Expedition to Idalion (resident conservator 1971; trained Diana Buitron, who replaced him 1972). The expedition is described as sponsored by Harvard University.
- 1977The Department of the Classics, Harvard University transferred its collection to the Fogg (1977.216 series): includes Henry W. Haynes's 1912 bequest vases and glass sold by the Met from Cesnola's collection.
- 1997Estate gift of H. Bartlett Wells: bronze coin of Euagoras II of Salamis (1997.260.324).
- 2002Emmanuel Tiliakos gave 15 mould-made terracotta fragments (2002.227.1-15).
- 2002Bought from Frank L. Kovacs a bronze bowl with Cypriot Syllabic inscription (2002.231), previously in a German private collection by 1991.
- 2004Lilian and Benjamin Hertzberg gave a limestone head (2004.199).
- 2017Bought at Christie's New York, antiquities sale 14355, 25 April 2017, lot 232: the Golgoi votary head 2017.167 (Marian H. Phinney Fund).
- 2023Thomas C. Welch gave a Red Polished II black-topped bowl with lug (2023.456), with Penha collection provenance.
