    Paul Lapp, who had chosen Idalion and was assembling an excavation team, drowned off Kyrenia; Wright, then ASOR president, intervened so that the permit would not be lost and left field direction to Walker and Stager.

    Harvard University and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston excavated Morphou Toumba tou Skourou (a Bronze Age potters' quarter) under Emily Vermeule; work ended in 1974 because of the Turkish invasion; much of the site had earlier been bulldozed. The expedition is called the Harvard University-Museum of Fine Arts Boston Cyprus Expedition.
