Sites: Palaepaphos, Salamis, Lapithos

Thirty-two small prints from the album of Ann Franken-Battershill (1930–1992), dated by CVAR to about 1950–1952. Most were taken at Kouklia, the village on the site of Palaepaphos, during the seasons of the British Kouklia Expedition of the Universities of Liverpool and St Andrews. One shows T. B. Mitford of St Andrews and J. H. Iliffe of the Liverpool City Museum, who excavated at Kouklia from 1950 to 1955, with a Cypriot priest; others show the excavation staff at work and at dinner, finds laid out for sorting under the arches of the building that CVAR's records call the Archaeological Museum of Palaepaphos, a trench, groups of pottery and the ride out to the site. Ann Franken-Battershill appears in some of them herself, and some album pages are inscribed "Kouklia".

A few prints come from other places she visited in the same years: Salamis, a carved marble relief at Famagusta, and at Lambousa the ruins around Ayios Evlambios and the floor mosaics of the monastery of Panayia Acheiropoietos.
