Life and work

    His Near Eastern work (Brak/Chagar Bazar stamp seals, Iraq 9; toggle-pin chronology, Iraq 9) is used by P. Dikaios as comparanda for Khirokitia engraved pebbles, a fish amulet, and the dating of Philia toggle-pins; Dikaios records Mallowan's own opinions ('Professor Mallowan thinks...').

  2. 1950s
    The University of Sydney (Nicholson Museum) paid £1000 for a group of ivories from Max Mallowan's excavations at Nimrud, as part of the Nicholson's sponsorship of excavations in Cyprus, Jericho and Nimrud (non-Cypriot material).
