    Antonio Vondiziano becomes British Vice-Consul at Larnaca (to 1838, per Merrillees); Koudounaris, cited by Hadjicosti, calls him Chancellor of the English Consulate.

    Petros Pavlos Vondiziano acting British Vice-Consul (Merrillees; another reading gives 1840-41).

  3. 11 April 1843
    Niven Kerr takes up the consulship at Larnaca; in 1846 he tries, for the British Museum, to buy the Sargon II stele from Kition, but it has already been sold to the Prussian consular agent (for Berlin).

    Kerr nominates Demetrios Pierides as vice-consul; the appointment is annulled (Kiely and Merrillees: because of his rayah status). Kerr moves to Rhodes when the consular seat moves.

    Horace White British vice-consul (Hill: 1861-4); he buys the Idalion statuettes found in 1863 and, per French sources, has the wall round the great Amathus vase pulled down.

    Robert Hamilton Lang begins acting as Vice-Consul on a number of occasions from September 1861.

  7. 27 May 1864
    London Gazette announces Dominic Colnaghi as Consul in Cyprus; he leaves for North Italy by August 1865. In 1865 he co-excavates the Salt Lake terracotta sanctuary with Pierides and the French side, and gives the finds to the British Museum.

    Thomas Backhouse Sandwith Vice-Consul, reporting to the Consul-General at Beirut; he buys and has dug Dali tomb finds and sells part to the British Museum.
