- 1971Vassos Karageorghis was called to Berkeley as Regent's Lecturer in the fall of 1971.
- 25 October 1971 – 3 January 1972Darrell Amyx organised 'Antiquities of Cyprus', drawn from five Pacific Coast collections, in the R. H. Lowie Museum of Anthropology, Berkeley; it then showed at the Stanford University Museum (10 January to 25 March 1972). A brief catalogue (Berkeley, 1971) was issued.

- 1971–1972Amyx taught a graduate seminar in the history of art on Ancient Cyprus; six students (Birge, Chazin, Forbes, Hunt, Prongos, Richter) took part and became co-authors of the corpus catalogue, the seminar serving as training in museum research.

- 1974Karageorghis, Amyx and associates published Cypriote Antiquities in San Francisco Bay Area Collections (Corpus of Cypriote Antiquities 5, SIMA XX:5), covering the Lowie Museum, the California Palace of the Legion of Honor and the de Young Museum; research funded in part by the University of California, Berkeley Committee on Research. Stanford was excluded because it had its own publication programme.
