History

  1. 1968–1975
UNESCO, in collaboration with the Department of Antiquities, conserved and restored the Roman mosaic pavements at Kato Paphos (House of Dionysos), under the Yugoslav expert Milorad Medic; the first Chronique entry records six months of work in 1968, and in 1970 UNESCO restorers lifted the Hippolytos and Phaedra pavement.

  3. 1974–1976
After the 1974 invasion UNESCO sent Jacques Dalibard to investigate conditions in the occupied zone and take protective measures; the Archaeological Reports state his mission ended abruptly without achieving its object. His report, Cyprus: Status of the conservation of cultural property, was published by UNESCO in 1976 and later criticised as too Turkish-friendly (as reported by the 2023 study).
