The project
In 1971 Elisha Linder and Avner Raban surveyed the harbours of Salamis, Kyrenia, Lapithos, Marion and Nea Paphos1. The Salamis work was a limited underwater survey that produced a small sketch-plan2. Davies summarises it as recording a town-wall line by the Pedieos riverbank, submerged building ruins just north of the headland, and an ancient breakwater to its south and north2. He distinguishes these observations from Raban's proposed multi-basin harbour, which he describes as speculation rather than a result of the survey2. The results and sketch-plan were published 24 years later in an article by Raban2.
