The project
John Linton Myres excavated around the monument known as the Tomb of St Catherine at Salamis in 1914. Karageorghis says that Myres described the monument as a tomb and proposed a Graeco-Roman date, but did not recognise its architectural phases or date it correctly1. On ceramic evidence Karageorghis dates the original construction of the tomb to the seventh century1. Myres published his notes in 1915 in Archaeologia 662.
