Helmeted Horse and Rider Figure

Terracotta figure of helmeted horse and rider; hand-made with painted detail; body of animal is short with stumpy legs (one missing and restored); it has a long pointed face, large oval eyes and a pointed crest; the painted ladder pattern on his body may represent a horse blanket or similar covering, though this design also extends down his legs; the rider has a tubular body which rises directly out of the horse's back; his large hands grip the animal's head; large almond-shaped eyes; pointed beard, painted red; he wears a pointed cap or helmet.
