    Followed Ohnefalsch-Richter's tracks in western Cyprus; Buchholz quotes him: 'End of April 1914 my Greek host guided me to Limni...' (citing Historia 9, 1960, 244f.; Masson ICS 185f.).

  2. 1945–1952
    Taught Franz Georg Maier linguistics at Tuebingen and recommended him and Joerg Schaefer to T. B. Mitford, so that Maier joined the British Kouklia Expedition (1952-55).

    Proposed a Greek reading of the 1953 Enkomi Cypro-Minoan tablet as a record of the settlement of a boundary dispute (La Nouvelle Clio 1954, 470 f.); Ventris had found that the text would not answer to Linear B-style Greek.
