History
- 1963At the 8th International Congress of Classical Archaeology in Paris, Pouilloux and Karageorghis decided to create a French excavation mission in Cyprus. The Institut Fernand-Courby of the University of Lyon was to be its academic sponsor, with funding from the Commission des fouilles à l'étranger of the French foreign ministry. The site chosen was Salamis.
