    Listed as one of the archaeologists (with J.-Y. Monchambert) of the French mission's May-June 1981 season at Kition-Bamboula, directed by Mme M. Yon; the season continued work in the sanctuary where a cult of Herakles-Melqart is recognised.

    Kiely and Fourrier (2012) credit Salles with a detailed analysis of the 1879 accounts of the Bamboula demolition (Sinclair, Ohnefalsch-Richter): his observation that Trench N on Sinclair's plan corresponds with Trench 436 of the French excavations is called the most important correlation with the modern record; they dispute his placing of Ohnefalsch-Richter's sanctuary west of the Cypro-Archaic sanctuary area, and note that he took the anonymous Graphic article to be by Pierides.
