- 1989–1991The Danish Akamas Project of Aarhus University, directed by Hans Erik Mathiesen and Jane Fejfer, surveyed and excavated at Ayios Kononos on the Akamas peninsula (Late Roman villa, Early Byzantine basilica and houses, copper slag).

- 1989–1991Survey of about 15 km2 around Ayios Kononos directed by Peter Hayes found 200+ rock-cut tombs and mid-to-late Chalcolithic settlement; a road study by Tønnes Bekker-Nielsen and others traced an ancient coastal road.
