Description:

Pottery spouted-jug in Bichrome ware; globular-ovoid body on a flat base; concave neck splaying to an everted rim; vertical loop handle from shoulder to rim; conical spout with narrow bore on the shoulder opposite the handle; pale buff clay with small gritty inclusions covered with a slip or wash of similar colour; decorated in red and black paint: parallel bands around the body and neck; broad vertical strokes meeting in a point on each side of the vase and above the spout, the latter infilled with a ladder pattern: they probably stylized floral motifs; a pair of eyes flank the spout with a 'x' above each eye and a small, tear-like blob below; probably Bichrome IV or IV ware.
