Black-On-Red Rhyton
Pottery rhyton/ trick vase with animal-head spout in Black-on-Red ware; wheel-made body; ovoid body with a knob on top; tall conical foot (hollow underneath with a cylindrical tube rising vertically into the interior of the vessel); double-rib handle arching over the top of the vase; spout in the form of bull's head: a perforated tubular snout flanked by applied ears, with a dew-lap rendered in black painted dots; buff clay and matt orange-red slip, decorated in black paint: bands around the foot and lower body, concentrics on the upper body and shoulder, details of the eyes, ears and snout of the animal are are rendered in paint; surface worn in places.
