Description:

Upper part of a pottery jug with figural decoration in White Painted ware; wheel-made; globular body with short, slightly concave neck and trefoil mouth; vertical handle from shoulder to rim; pale buff clay and slip decorated in black-brown paint in Free Field composition: a pair of birds schematically rendered with oval hatched bodies and out-stretched wings flanking two vertical trees or reeds; pair of eyes on the trefoilated mouth; band of paint at the junction of the body and neck and around the rim; zig-zig in ladder motif on the handle.
