Description

Trenches cut into pale earth expose low walls of rough stone blocks and packed earth. A barefoot boy in a white shirt and dark trousers stands on the spoil heap at right, with a basket on a bank behind him. A small dark object lies in a pit at centre right, and low hills with scattered trees rise under a pale sky.
