Description

Nine people sit and kneel along the lip of a deep excavation trench, several of them women in headscarves, with a boy and two men among them. Two woven baskets and a folded cloth lie among them, and a shovel rests at the lower left. Behind them stretches a wide, dry landscape of hills and cultivated plots under a hazy sky.
