Sites: Kourion, Salamis, Soli

Sixteen photographs from six smaller collections given to CVAR by the photographers or their families. Richard Chamberlain, who gave his own photographs, was at Salamis in 1954, when the columns of the gymnasium palaestra were being set up again during the Department of Antiquities excavations; his six views show the work in progress and a group of students being shown round, with his own album captions. Sten Boye Poulsen, of the Danish contingent of the United Nations force, photographed the theatre and the ruins at Kourion in 1964 and 1965.

The rest are single photographs or pairs: the theatre at Soli by Cyril Ogborne in 1958, given by his son Paul Ogborne; English School sixth-formers at the same theatre on their trip round the island in June 1957; a floor mosaic at Kourion from the album of Jane D'Arcy; and the Roman sarcophagus at Bellapais Abbey from the collection of Graham Howes, about 1958.
