Life and work
- 1849Marangou describes Graves as a British cartographer on whose tour of Cyprus in 1849 Demetrios Pierides was a companion; Pierides discovered many inscriptions on it and later published them.

- by 1878Lang (1878) refers to 'Captain Graves, who collected many Lycian inscriptions' and who supposed a Cyprian inscription he found in Cyprus to be Lycian.
- by 1881Cesnola's 1881 text gives the island's length and breadth 'from accurate measurements taken by Captain Graves' (124 miles W-E, 45 miles N-S); Cesnola also compared Kiepert's map of Cyprus with 'that of Graves' while preparing his book.
