    On Gjerstad's suggestion that more extensive research be started in Cyprus, the Swedish Cyprus Committee was formed to support his fieldwork. The Swedish Cyprus Expedition was the name of the undertaking.

    Fieldwork by the Expedition under Gjerstad (Lindros, Sjöqvist, Westholm), September 1927 to February 1931, with permission readily granted by the Cyprus authorities. The Committee records the division of finds between the Cyprus Museum and the excavators, with a considerable number allotted to the Expedition, thanks to Storrs and the Museum authorities.

    Funding: a Swedish state grant of 35,000 crowns toward excavation and 50,000 crowns for preparing the material for publication, plus private donors (named in the preface: Almgren, Erik, Ernst and T. Åqvist, Bennet, Collett, Dehlgren, Frisk, Heinecke, Heiss, Hultmark, Jansson, A. and Harry Ax:son Johnson, Kleist, Larsson, Nachmanson, Rettig, Sachs, Unell, Wallenberg, plus anonymous donors).

  5. June 1934
    The Committee signed the Preface (Stockholm, June 1934) to volume I of the Swedish Cyprus Expedition's publication, entrusted to Gjerstad, with text by Gjerstad, Sjöqvist and Westholm.
