    Andreas Vondiziano appointed Vice-Consul of the United Kingdom of Sweden and Norway at Larnaca (also Russian vice-consul); arrested in August 1861 by the British vice-consul Horace P. White.

    Zeno D. Pierides became Swedish consul (Karageorghis 1973 gives 1895-1911; Pierides 1985 says 'since 1892'). Pierides states the Consulate General has remained in the family since 1895.

    Meeting with Axel W. Persson of Uppsala on a train in Serbia: Gjerstad's account (a story he calls well known) has Pierides introducing himself as Swedish consul, borrowing GBP 10 and urging a Swedish excavation in Cyprus; the repayment arrived from Athens. Gjerstad presents this as how the Swedish Cyprus Expedition came about.
