White Painted Amphora

Description:

Pottery: White Painted I ware amphora; wheel-made; ovoid-globular body on a low ring base; tall cylindrical neck with slightly concave sides; everted rim; pair of opposing loop handles; on the base of the neck mid-way between handles is a conical knobs; made of buff clay with with small inclusions with surface fired a cream-buff finish; decorated with brown matt paint: hatched triangles on the shoulder and a large horizontal wavy lines on the body, solid paint on the neck, base and handles (the latter now very worn).
