Description

Workers stand and crouch in a narrow trench cut into pale, layered earth, pulling ropes attached to a wooden board in the foreground. On the right edge of the cut, a man in a hat and sweater and a woman in a headscarf and long apron look toward the camera. Another figure stands on the top left, and a dark animal appears at the upper right.
