Life and work
- October 1880 – January 1881One of the five members of the committee the trustees appointed, at Cesnola's October 1880 request, to look into Feuardent's charges that Cesnola had restored and altered Cypriote antiquities: 'President F. A. P. Barnard, Dr. Roswell D. Hitchcock, Judge Charles P. Daly, Mr. J. Q. A. Ward, and Mr. William C. Prime'. The Art Amateur calls him 'President Roswell D. Hitchcock, of the Union Theological Seminary'. Feuardent was invited but could not nominate a member and absented himself; the committee unanimously reported the charges 'without foundation'.
