    Stayed in Cyprus, travelling as the Muslim 'Ali Bey el Abbassi'; visited Limassol, Nicosia, Larnaca, Kouklia, Yeroskipou, Paphos and Amathus, writing up ruins.

    At Kouklia had the first plan and two elevations of the Temenos wall drawn (Maier); described the Cuclia 'palace' (manor) whose Greek farmer was absent, and sent him a description of nearby antiquities.

    Recorded at Amathus that of the two giant vases one was 'almost entirely destroyed' (as quoted by Fivel and Masson).
