Life and work
- 1896Sent out by the French School at Athens after Boysset (at the instigation of the dealer Tano) recommended that the French Government apply to the British for permission to excavate; began work at Larnaca on a site belonging to Tano but fell ill almost immediately and left.

- 1896The permits for Larnaca and Lapithos were in Fossey's name only; because Ottoman-law Article 18 bars transfer of a permit, his replacement Perdrizet could not start work until new permits were obtained from London, which delayed him.
