Cypriot foreman and conservator, active 1959–1983. Excavated at Kition, Palaepaphos-Skales and Salamis, Tomb 79. Worked for Department of Antiquities, Cyprus; worked with Vassos Karageorghis and Andreas Savva.

Life and work

  1. 1959–1976
    One of Karageorghis's three field foremen and collaborators at Kition (with Kakoullis Georghiou and Andreas Savva); he and Kakoullis Georghiou also helped prepare the material for publication.

  2. 1960s
    Took more than six weeks to excavate and consolidate the ivory-plated Gamma throne at the dromos wall of Salamis Tomb 79; the Alpha bed was sorted and restored in the Nicosia laboratory.

  3. 1979–1981
    Foreman of the Department technicians who began the emergency excavation at Palaepaphos-Skales, with draughtsman Chrysilios Polykarpou, retired technical assistant Symeon Klonaris and Custodian George Ioannou as expert diggers; Karageorghis thanks them for sharing the hardships of digging.
