The Cypriot collection
Decaudin's 1993 catalogue lists 66 Cypriot entries from the Lycklama collection, some Louvre deposits, with an earlier Lycklama inventory numbered MCL AO; only the pieces accessible in 1989 are catalogued. (1993)
History
- May 1872Baron T. M. Lycklama a Nijeholt opens a private museum at Beetsterwaag (Frisia) for his collections, which closes in September 1872; he moves to Cannes with the collections.
- 1877Lycklama gives his collections to the city of Cannes; they are installed on the ground floor of the town hall, east wing. Decaudin finds no purchase records naming vendors or Cypriot provenances for the Cypriot pieces; his only Cyprus call (Larnaca, 1868) was a stopover without landing.

- 1900Lycklama dies; the collections are preserved until the death of his wife in 1914, after which Decaudin finds no serious information until 1923.
- 1923Theodore Reinach, asking to see the collection, finds it stored in disorder in the old castle of the Suquet.
- 1928–1931Joseph Billiet is conservateur; he reorders the collection and carries out the recolement that fixes the MCL AO inventory numbers; he publishes La collection Lycklama au Musee de Cannes (1931) and thanks Contenau for help with reclassification.
- 1993Antoinette J. Decaudin publishes Musee de Cannes, Chypre dans l'Antiquite, Catalogue (CCEC 19), with the conservateurs Francois Nedellec and Marie Wallet named in the acknowledgements. Includes Louvre pieces deposited at Cannes such as a bearded head (no. 36) and a Hellenistic kourotrophos (Louvre AM 274).
