    T. M. Lycklama a Nijeholt gives his collection of Near Eastern antiquities, including Cypriot pieces, to the town; the council thanks him in session on 31 December 1877 (mayor Girard). Installed on the ground floor of the Mairie as the Musée municipal Lycklama. Billiet could find no document on the conditions.

    Théodore Reinach asks to see the collection and finds it stored in disorder in the old château du Suquet; his protests go unheeded.
