History
- 1924The original Archaeology Museum in Izmir was established (Merrillees); it opened to the public in 1927 in the former church of Ayios Voukolos (Aya Vukla). Merrillees notes it could be argued the first Izmir opening was 15 February 1927.
- 1924Acquired a Hellenistic naiskos back panel formerly in the Greek Evangelical School (Izmir History and Art Museum inv. 000.884); a Dioskouroi relief (inv. 000.708) is said to have been acquired in 1925. Neither is Cypriot; they show where the school's collection went.

- 1927Aziz Ogan's guide to the new museum appeared in Turkish (Izmir) and French (Smyrne). Merrillees finds no Cypriot piece named in it.
- 1984The building of the present Izmir Archaeology Museum opened; the Izmir History and Art Museum followed in 2004.
IzmirMerrillees 2017
- January 2017Merrillees visited the museum and found no White Slip II krater of Cypriot origin from the earlier Evangelical School collection; the museum had no knowledge of it, and it is absent from Turhan Özgan's 1999 pottery catalogue of the museum.
