Golgoi: the Cyprus Survey at Ayios Photios
1961 · Golgoi
The Cyprus Survey's 1961 investigation of the Ayios Photios area at Golgoi under Kyriakos Nicolaou, which found about 100 limestone sculpture fragments and some terracottas.
The project
In 1961 the Cyprus Survey, directed by Kyriakos Nicolaou, investigated the Ayios Photios area of Golgoi and found about 100 fragments of limestone sculptures and some terracottas1. Hermary and Mertens write that since 1974 this zone, near the Green Line, has been inaccessible; the Turkish invasion of that year, and the occupation that followed, divided the island along that line1.
