Description:

Part of bronze hinge; rectangular sheet with squared-off edges, probably with one end folded over to form a cylinder or cylinder attached separately (bronze too corroded to be certain); sheet probably hammered and cut into shape; single hole pierced near long end, containing remains of an ivory peg; remains of organic material (wood or ivory) adhering to both exterior faces and interior of cylinder; extremely corroded; one of a pair with 1897,0401.1458.
