Series·Swedish Cyprus Expedition

Objects: bronze, iron and other metalwork

373 object photographs

Site: Arsos

This series holds 373 photographs and drawings of metal objects whose museum record names no find-place, gathered here by material and use. Iron weapons (62) and iron tools are the largest groups; bronze is filed as weapons, tools, utensils, sculpture, horse-trappings, personal adornments and toilet implements, with smaller groups of lead and Bronze Age gold and silver. About 70 items are drawings rather than photographs.

Twenty captions carry the note "Vol. IV:2", the volume of the expedition's report on the Cypro-Geometric to Cypro-Classical periods. Fifteen cite objects in the Cesnola Collection in New York by their numbers in Myres's Handbook (H.C.C.); HCC 4772 is the horse-bit Myres describes on p. 488.

Metalwork with excavation numbers is in the Vouni metal and jewellery series and the Idalion, Lapithos and Enkomi series. The Handbook is in the Archive, and "No recorded place" under Site in the explorer lists all unplaced object photographs.
