Description

Tall column drums stand in a row on a stone base on the right, with a shorter drum at its foot beside them. On the left, a stone wall and broken pier blocks line a flat stone ground that runs into the distance, scattered with stones. Bushes and trees sit on the low horizon beneath heavy clouds, and a printed text block fills the lower right corner.

IN THE SANCTUARY OF APOLLO, CURIUM "Following the traces of the aqueduct north of Curium, always among thick bushes from which start flocks of partridges and francolins, I reached the ruins of the temle of Apollo Hylates. The mass of stones on the ground showed that the temple had been a magnificent edifice." Louis Palma du Cesnola - 1870 (Cyprus: its Ancient Cities, Tombs and Temples)
