Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C05374aa. Public domain (CC0).

Description

An oval, dark stone seal with a carved surface, photographed close up on a pale grey card. The upper part shows raised, irregular shapes, and a horizontal band of small rounded dots crosses the middle. Below, two elongated vertical forms and a rounded bump sit near the lower right edge, and the soft focus blurs their outlines.

  • Carved seal or gem from Amathus, tombs 2-26, with a figured design in an oval field
Description, scan 2
A carved seal or gem shown in close view, with an oval engraved face set into a plain rectangular field. The design has a rounded head-like form at the top, a band of small dots across the middle and rounded forms below. The photograph is soft and dark, so the fine carved details are hard to make out.
