Description

The view looks down into a trench with a steep face of packed soil on the left and loose stones scattered across the floor in the foreground. Rough stone walls line the right side and back of the cutting, and a deep shadow fills the centre. At the top right edge a dark sloping object is only partly visible.

Description, scan 2
A close view down into an excavation trench at Cholades, Soli. A tall vertical face of stony soil fills the left side, while stone wall courses and loose rubble line the dark hollow in the centre and right. Strong shadows give sharp contrast, and a dark angular edge is cut off at the top right corner.
