Glyptic (A. 008)

Engraved stone seal from Amathus, shown enlarged, with a ridged domed back and an oval engraved base — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C03903c. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A close photograph of a small seal of stone, enlarged to fill the frame, shown on a grey mount. The domed back has ridged edges and a rounded outline. On the flat base an oval frame encloses worn engraved marks, with a curled motif near the top; the engraving is soft and hard to make out at this size.

Description, scan 2: A close view of a flat oval seal with a raised rim, shown on a pale grey card mount. The carved face has a framed figure-like sign on the left, a vertical element in the centre and a curved motif at the right. The outlines are soft and partly worn, so the detail is hard to read.
